Summary: I stayed at the Ibis Sofia Airport and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. The room had a number of maintenance issues. The light fitting was broken, there was no shower gel in the shower, the bathroom corners were dirty, the TV was mounted crooked and leaned to one side, and the room door didn't close properly—you had to lean against it and push hard for it to latch. The TV also has an extremely bright white standby LED that shines directly into the room all night unless you unplug the television. Breakfast was particularly poor. At around 9:40 a.m., despite breakfast still being in service, there was virtually no hot food available. There was no pancake mix, one of the coffee machines was out of order, and all of the jam/condiment dispensers were blocked, meaning you had to remove the bottles just to get anything out. Tables weren't being cleared, giving the dining area an untidy appearance. Breakfast wasn't actually closed until 10:22 a.m., so there was plenty of time remaining for it to have been properly stocked and maintained. The sparkling water function on the water machine was also not working. The staff at check-in were not particularly welcoming. They were just about acceptable, but certainly not engaging. Finally, the car park is very uneven and poorly surfaced, making it awkward to drive and walk on. Overall, this stay left a very poor impression of the Ibis brand.
